  • I have been with Aspen for over 20 years and they have always been there for me. I have multiple policies through them and they have always found the best rate that suits my needs. I have never had a claim but recently I've had 2. The first was for hail damage, which the major carrier paid but then proceeded to double my rates. Go figure, I don't recall making it hail on my car. Aspen was able to move my insurance to another major carrier and save me a few bucks a month as well. The second was a collision claim on icy roads that both insurance companies deemed 50-50 fault, so neither party was at fault in other words. My new carrier didn't want to pay the claim for some reason. I thought that was what full coverage was intended for. I talked with Cindy at Aspen and she contacted the carrier and the claim was paid. Some people like to deal directly with insurance carriers but if you have a problem it's nice to have an actual agent that is working for you, and not the agent that's working for the corporate carriers best interests.

I've used them as an intermediary for my car insurance needs for years now. Initially, it seemed as if they were offering competitive prices (granted, i was 19 or 20 when I first sought their services). Recently, however, I've noticed my premiums rising every six months for no apparent reason. I haven't been in a car accident that was my fault in over a decade and have 2 citations (a speeding ticket and a defective vehicle charge) in the past 3 years. I called them asking for a lower rate since I felt that 140+/month for liability on a 90s Honda was outrageous, and they said they'd work to get me the "best possible rate." I've gotten Progressive insurance through them in the past, so I know that they search those premiums when finding a plan for you. So I decided to check Progressive's rates for my record myself by using their website AND calling them to check if the site was accurate. The premium per month was $93/month and a little over $70 if I wanted to do the bare minimum. They assured me that they factored in my 3 year history and everything and that was what I would pay if I were to sign up. Well after a couple calls to Aspen to see if they'd found anything reasonably priced, they finally gave me a call back A WEEK LATER notifying me that the least expensive plan they could find was through Viking Insurance for $140/month!! Keep in mind that this is for liability only insurance for a mid-size 90s Honda in decent condition. Which was obviously a lie anyway since Progressive offered almost $50 a month less (HALF if you take their bare minimum plan). Bottom line: Somewhere along the line, this place turned into a scam. I'm not sure what kind of bonus/commission the representatives get for gouging your eyes out with the most overpriced insurance they can get you, but it's outrageous and I wish I would've sought insurance elsewhere long ago. Do not, under any circumstance go to Aspen Insurance Agency in Denver, CO unless you hate saving money.
